TORONTO, ON, March 14, 2016 – A new community fund to celebrate Canada’s 150th anniversary of Confederation was announced today by the Honourable Mélanie Joly, Minister of Canadian Heritage, in collaboration with Community Foundations of Canada.

The Community Fund for Canada’s 150th is a small grants program that will support local projects that build vibrant, healthy, and engaged communities; inspire a deeper understanding about our communities and our country; and encourage participation in community initiatives connected to the sesquicentennial. The Fund will be led by local community foundations, and in the spirit of grassroots leadership, will take on a local flavour in each community.The Fund is a collaborative effort by Community Foundations of Canada and the network of community foundations, with support from the Government of Canada and extraordinary leaders from coast to coast to coast.Interested applicants would apply to the Fund via their local community foundation.
